April 28,2014 Monday  generalaviationnews

Hartzell Propeller and Mooney International Corp. are again in business together as the aircraft manufacturer has begun production on the first new Mooney airplane in five years.

Hartzell Propeller has initiated deliveries of the company’s three-blade, blended airfoil, scimitar props to Mooney’s manufacturing operation in Kerrville, Texas, for factory installation on its Ovation and Acclaim Type S aircraft models.

Nearly 10,000 Mooney airplanes have been equipped with Hartzell props. Under the most recent purchase order, Hartzell Propeller will supply propellers for all Mooney Ovation2 GX, Ovation3, and Acclaim aircraft models. “Mooney is pleased to have Hartzell Propeller back in the fold,” said Mooney CEO Dr. Jerry Chen. “We build fast, high performance airplanes and Hartzell props provide the requisite performance and reliability that Mooney owners have appreciated and respected for years.”

Hartzell Propeller President Joe Brown said, “We congratulate Mooney for weathering the storm and restarting its production lines. Our relationship with Mooney and Mooney aviators goes back decades and we are happy for the Mooney community. It is tremendous to see these aircraft rolling out the door and into the skies again.”
