Run For The Angels 5K slated at ORL April 19
April 09,2014 Wednesday  generalaviationnews
The Orlando Executive Airport will host its fourth annual “Run for the Angels 5K” on April 19. All proceeds will benefit Angel Flight Southeast, which is an organization in which pilots donate their time, airplanes, and fuel to provide free air transportation for children and adults with medical or compelling humanitarian needs.

It’s not very often you get to experience a 5K race on a runway, airport officials note. “Runners and walkers won’t want to miss this amazing opportunity to get the inside view of an airport by traveling down a runway and multiple taxiways, all while enjoying the view of many different types of aircraft, and a great view of downtown Orlando,” officials said.

There  also will be a guest speaker, Brad Pierce, who is an active Angel Flight pilot. On the night of Dec. 12, 2013, Pierce received a phone call that a young girl, Aubrie Amrhein of Orlando, had only hours to receive a rare kidney-liver transplant in Miami. Hear Brad tell his story of his mission to fly Aubrie as quickly as possible for her life saving surgery.

Bring the entire family to enjoy the festivities, including a display of aircraft, helicopter rides, meet and greet with an Angel Flight pilot, and more.
