AOPA president to speak to Wichita Aero Club
March 07,2014 Friday  generalaviationnews

Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association President Mark Baker will speak March 11 to the Wichita Aero Club.

Baker is a longtime general aviation pilot and only the fifth president in the 75-year history of AOPA.

Prior to his appointment at AOPA, the Minnesota native served in numerous senior executive roles, including chief operating officer at Scotts Miracle-Gro Co., president and CEO of outdoor outfitter Gander Mountain Co., and executive vice president for The Home Depot. Most recently, he served as CEO of Orchard Supply Hardware Stores Corp., a  retailer of home improvement and garden products.

Having relied on general aviation for personal and business transportation for many years, Mark still prefers to fly low and slow in his Piper Super Cub, which he equips with floats or skis according to the season.

The luncheon will be held at the Doubletree Hilton Wichita Airport, from 11:45 a.m to 1:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $30 for members and $40 for non-members.
